The Swedish kennel name 'IGAIS Tassar' was registered in November 1997.
Owner is me, I-G Annika Gustafsson (maiden name Isaksson) - huskyowner since 1987.

I had signed my self made art "IGAI" since I was a teenager.
"Tassar" means paws. Paws are surely well known as the name of dogs' feet... ;-)
so "IGAIS Tassar" means "Ing-Gun Annika Isaksson's dogs".

We live in southern Sweden, close to Jönköping.
Breeding is mostly for renewing my own team.
Since 1992, 26 dogs have been registered with prefix "IGAIS Tassar".

For breeding, I choose individuals "sound in mentality and type",
with hips - elbows - eyes - checked clear.
Of course the pedigrees will have to match - no inbreeding!

To me
"a typical siberian husky" means a dog corresponding to
exterior: "type - size - visual appearence" - very good - or excellent.
ability: well working sled dog. A team leader would be preferred.
It takes good mental qualities, to make a "true leader".
A good "working head" is absolutely necessary for a pulka 1-dog-team!

IGAIS' dogs are often seen among the top ranked in speciality shows.
A lot of CK/CAC have been brought home during the years.
Cooperative minds and physical functionality have given me many good leaders.

Sweden's very first siberian to become "double champion" (show'+sleddog)
was SUCh S(polar)Ch Natascha - the first bred bitch at IGAIS' kennels.
Her son SUCh S(polar)Ch Silvervargen (*1992, IGAIS-starting litter)
was one of the twoo first males to become "doubles". (1996)

Nowadays there aren't many "doubles", and that's a shame!
The breed seems more and more parted in extreme types: sprint / show.
My oppinion is, that we are to take good care of this wonderful breed.
"Good care" means that we will have to breed dogs thinking
'dual purpose'.
Standard-based qualitylevel minimum prize 1
and well working sleddogs.

I proudly show you Sirius, the main leader of my team and kennel,
as a very good example of a dual purpose dog with quality all through:

Swedish-Norwegian show champion with a nice "habit" to pick CK in the ring.
Absolutely excellent command leader, the best I ever had.

Although Sirius' good looks and team leader abilities,
his best qualities are his temperament and cooperative personality.
"The dog of my dreams" for me, and a favorite of many more.
A number of stuffed toy dogs, carry their names after Sirius. :-)
Sirius has sired two litters of nice and equal puppies, 2008/2009.
